Engine treatmentAll engines are completely dismantled back into its component parts and subjected to a detailed inspection. A complete chemical cleaning process is applied to remove all accumulation of contaminated waste sludge and encrusted deposits of combustion by-products, oil and water. Galleries and voids are subjected to detail cleaning to remove stubborn areas.
Cylinder heads are inspected for cracks. OHC styles have the camshaft journals inspected for correctness to specifications, are either restored or scrapped. Valve guides are gauged to assess conformity to original tolerances or renewed. valve seats are machined to original design multiple profile angle requirements for concentricity, width and valve height.
All
cylinder heads are subjected to full chemical cleaning of oil and water galleries,
followed by detail cleaning to remove encrusted carbon deposits. The head is
then checked for distortion and thickness, then machined to attain a surface
finish suitable to correct gasket adherence requirements.
Valves are examined for damage, head thickness and stem wear, these are replaced or reprofiled accordingly,. Valve springs are subjected to free height, compressed height and load distortion conformity values., tested against design specifications before assembly.
Camshafts are either replaced with a new unit or re-profiled to retain their original lift and timing characteristics.
Crankshaft
grinding with particular attention to radii, thrust wear and alignment, where
necessary these areas are recovered. This is followed by journal polishing to
provide maximum metal conditions to bearing manufacturers tolerances, that will
ensure long service life and conformity to design specification. Kits are available
for separate supply with the crankshaft packed and appropriate bearings.
Con-rods are thoroughly cleaned and tested for alignment, with bearing housings machined and re-bushed on the small end to conform with original manufacturers specifications. These are available as sets or individually for separate supply.
Cylinder
block bore tolerance to the finished dimensions is achieved with constant reference
to final piston clearance requirements. Cross hatch finish is honed into the
bore to provide a good key surface for the piston rings to bed. Short blocks
comprising of the cylinder block, crankshaft. Con-rods bearings and pistons
as an assembly are available on exchange.
Oil pump tolerance of fit in the rotor to body clearance is maintained to provide full delivery pressure to maximum capacity at the start of its life.
New components fitted in the assembly will include pistons, gudgeon pins, piston rings, main and con-rod bearings, timing belt or chain, gaskets, oil seals and core plugs. These are supplied with the quality that is equal to the original equipment vehicle producers.
Diesel
Injectors and pumps are remanufactured in specialist diesel workshops by highly
qualified engineers and subjected to a stringent set of high performance delivery
tests, being brought upon completion to original manufacturers specification.
Testing
of the assembled engine is carried out to ensure that the finished engine produces
the conformity of specification to original data.
Premier range petrol engines are further enhanced with a hot run under their own power. Diesel engines are hot run on a dynamometer, which places the engine under load conditions enabling power output to be monitored.
Quality remanufactured to British Standard BS.AU.257 and the Federation of Engine Re-manufacturers specifications
